Producing those sweet tones is thanks largely to the pickup selection that Yamaha have opted for - an SP90-1n neck pickup, and a TB-14 bridge humbucker, both courtesy of Seymour Duncan.

With the SP90-1n you get a vintage recreation of those famous late 1940s P90 single coil pickups. Due to the wide bobbins within the pickup, the tonal character of these P90s is unique, with powerful midrange and higher output levels when compared to a standard Single Coil.

The SP90-1n sounds both sweet and smooth, perfect for those big fat sounding chords, and creamy melodic leads.

In the bridge position you'll find a fantastic TB-14 Humbucker, also from Seymour Duncan. This pickup offers a nice, full tone, with a scooped midrange, and strikes the perfect balance between bass and treble. Because of this tonal response, the TB-14 is great for pretty much any kind of music, whether you play clean or dirty, and makes the perfect companion to the SP90-1n.

Add to this the inclusion of a Push/Pull tone control that allows you to split the TB-14 humbucker into a single coil pickup, and you have an even wider range of pristine tones at your disposal.
