A.R.E. Treated Wood
One of the most popular woods in guitar building, Spruce is renowned for its strength and flexibility.
Giving you beautiful tone and versatility, the Yamaha FSX5 features a solid Sitka Spruce top that has been treated to Yamaha's acclaimed Acoustic Resonance Enhancement.
The A.R.E. process combines high heat, controlled humidity and pressure so that the solid top of the Yamaha FSX5 guitar has the same qualities as authentically aged tonewood.
As a result you get rich, beautiful tone with incredible resonance and sustain so that a brand new Yamaha FSX5 sounds like a guitar you've been playing for years.
Continuing the all-solid wood construction, the back and sides of the Yamaha red label FSX5 are made from solid Mahogany.
This beautiful wood adds to the great looks of the guitar while enhancing your tone with bright, clear and airy trebles.
Concert Style Acoustic with New Bracing Pattern
As a concert guitar, the Yamaha FSX5 produces has tighter, more articulate tone than you can expect from dreadnought guitars for example.
With this more focused tone, the Yamaha FSX5 is perfect for fingerpicking styles and complex chords.
A new bracing pattern can be found within the Yamaha FSX5 which improves low-frequency response and volume while maintaining the focused sound of the guitar.
Performance Enhancing Features
Attached to the body is an African Mahogany neck which boasts a matt finish for a smooth playing experience.
The neck holds an Ebony fretboard for a durable, smooth and speedy playing surface.
Ebony has also been used for the bridge and bridge pins for great transfer of vibration to the A.R.E. treated solid Sitka Spruce top.
Bone has been used for then nut and saddle, further enhancing the transfer of vibration to the neck and body of the guitar, giving you bright, natural tone with great sustain.
Up on the original style Yamaha FG headstock, you'll find six Gotoh open gear tuning machines providing precise and secure tuning along with vintage aesthetics.
"Since 1966" is emblazoned on the truss rod cover as a nod to the FSX5's 1960s heritage.
Atmosfeel Electronics
While many electro-acoustic guitars lose a lot of their tone when plugged in, that's not the case with the Yamaha FSX5 because of its new Atmosfeel electronics.
This 3-way pickup and preamp system features a piezo sensor to capture the low end, a microphone to capture the low and mid range while a proprietary contact sensor pickup captures the high frequencies.
Simple controls allow you to quickly dial in the exact sound you want.
The Microphone Blend control allows you to set how much of the microphone sound you want in the mix.
A Bass EQ knob is on hand allowing you to set the peaking EQ with the centre frequency raising when you boost it and lowering when you attenuate. As a result, problematic low end frequencies are never added to your sound.
Last but not least is a Master Volume control knob for easy control over your output level.
Made in Japan
As the distinctive red label attests, this guitar is made in Japan to incredibly high quality standards using only premium materials.
It comes to you in a hardshell case; the perfect way to protect your new Yamaha FSX5 guitar at home or on the road.
