All Solid Acoustic Guitar
As a dreadnought guitar, the Yamaha A3R ARE is able to produce great volume and extended low end.
Due to its fantastic blend of strength and elasticity, solid Sitka Spruce has been used for the top wood of the A3R electro-acoustic guitar, making ideal for all playing styles from heavy strumming to light fingerpicking.
Noted for its broad, rich tones and articulate high end, solid Rosewood has been used for the back and sides of the A3R ARE.
Working closely with guitarists, luthiers and guitar techs, Yamaha have crafted an incredible new neck for the Yamaha A3R.
The straighter neck taper allows for easier high fret playing while its high comfort profile provides an improved experience for your fretting hand.
Atop the neck is an Ebony fretboard, providing an extremely smooth playing surface while the hand-rolled fretboard edges give you a great, played-in feel from the first time you pick up the guitar!
Incredible Acoustic Sound
Using cutting-acoustic analysis technology developed by their in-house R&D division, Yamaha have developed a new scalloped bracing for the top board and crafted shorter bracing for the back board.
Through the incorporation of this new style of bracing, the Yamaha A3R ARE has increased volume and stronger low-mid tones.
Possibly the greatest tonal improvements for the A3R ARE come from the use of Yamaha’s exclusive A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) torrefaction process on the solid Sitka Spruce top.
Processing the wood with highly controlled temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure, the ARE accelerates the ageing of the wood.
As a result, the Yamaha A3R ARE produces beautifully rich, vintage quality acoustic tone that sounds as if the guitar has been played for years – right from the first time you play it.
Amazing Electronics for Great Plugged-In Sound
With most electro-acoustic guitars, as soon as you plug them in, they lose all the tone you enjoy when playing unplugged so you get a less than satisfactory sound during live performances.
That’s why, when developing the A3R ARE, Yamaha were determined to create a guitar that sounds great unplugged but keeps all that fantastic natural tone when you plug-in to play live on stage.
Enter the SRT2 (Studio Response Technology) electronics.
Giving you a great piezo pickup sound to cut through the mix and beautiful, pure acoustic tones sounding as if they were recorded by high-end, vintage microphones – the SRT2 system gives you a great sonic palette to work with. You can even blend these two separate sources together to get the exact sound you’re looking for.
Furthermore; you can even choose between the sounds of two different vintage microphones!
Extended research conducted by recording the guitars in world-class studios using incredible microphones has allowed Yamaha to faithfully recreate these amazing sounds.
When using Mic Type 1, you et the sound of the AR3 as if it was recorded by a Neuman U67 while Mic Type 2 gives you the sound of the guitar recorded by a Royer R122.
Using these amazing microphone types means you can get awesome sound both on stage and in the studio.
Tailor Your Tone with Fantastic Control
For simple control knobs on the body of the guitar offer easy, effective control while remaining visually minimalist and discreet.
Using the blend control, you can set the mix between the piezo pick up and modelled microphone sounds. By pushing the control in you can toggle between the two microphone types to find your preferred sound.
Treble and Bas controls are also present allowing you to adjust the high and low frequencies respectively.
Auto Feedback Reduction is activated by pushing the Bass control knob in. The AFR system automatically detects the frequency causing feedback and applies a -12dB notch filter to it, effectively eliminating it from your sound.
Lastly, a Volume control allows you to quickly and easily adjust your overall output level.
And It Looks Great Too!
While the playability and sound are fantastic enough, the Yamaha A3R ARE looks incredible too.
Simple and organic influences to the design combined with other luxury touches such as the gorgeous binding and Rosewood and Mahogany Rosette for a real visual treat.
Tipping the hat to the Yamaha N1000 released back in 1975, the Yamaha A3R ARE also features a distinctively shaped tortoise pattern pickguard.
Perfect for taking along to your next gig, the A3R ARE even comes with hard gig bag – as convenient and portable as a standard gigbag while offering significantly improved protection for your guitar.
With two high quality shoulder straps, two sturdy handles and a compartment to store your accessories such as cables, strings, tuner and picks, this hard Yamaha gig bag is extremely useful.
For an electro-acoustic guitar that sounds as good plugged-in as it does unplugged and is perfect for the stage and the studio, buy the Yamaha A3R ARE.
