Garstka Signature Sticks
Matt Garstka has forged an extremely successful career as the sticksman for prog-metal band Animals as Leaders. His ability to blend deep groove with highly technical time signatures has seen him quickly become a well-respected drummer’s drummer.
According to Vic Firth, Garstka wanted to create a stick that featured the finesse of a thinner stick with the power of thicker sticks. The result is a stick with a diameter that is halfway between the 55A and the Buddy Rich signature stick, with a standard 16” length.
The taper has been designed to blend seamlessly from the shaft into the tip to help produce an amazing flex feel. The blended wood tip has been crafted to offer a clear, full-bodied cymbal sound.
Garstka says about the sticks: “This stick’s a chopper, but you can smash with it too. To me, it’s the best of both worlds.”
