The Vic Firth American Classic 5a DoubleGlaze Drumsticks are for drummers with dry hands. A new option for those looking for the perfect grip.
Stick it to Dry Hands
Typically drumstick grips have been aimed at drummers who struggle with their grip because of clammy, sweaty hands. Vic Firth has turned things on their head, now offering an option for those who struggle with dry hands.
Adding to the line up of grip enhancement finishes, such as the VicGrip and PureGrit, Vic Firth has introduced the DoubleGlaze. The 5a sticks are coated with a “specialised lacquer formula” which creates a tacky feel where the stick is gripped. Vic Firth believes that this enhanced lacquered surface will allow drummers with dry hands to relax their grip on the stick, allowing for an improved playing hold. And hopefully, reducing blisters and other sores developed through dry hands rubbing against standard lacquer stickers.
In addition, the DoubleGlaze coating adds a little extra weight to the stick creating a solid feel.
The DoubleGlazed sticks are available in 5a and 5b options. The 5a has a standard 16” length and .565” diameter. They feature a medium taper and a tear drop shaped wood tip.
