Grand Pacific Guitar – A Dreadnought with Incredible Low-End Clarity
The Taylor Grand Pacific guitar was created as a way to evolve the dreadnought guitar. With the Grand Pacific you get that great low-end and broad range of a dreadnought but with a dramatic refinement for improved versatility.
Many dreadnought guitars can deliver strong low-end, they often come with a cloudy, muddiness in the tone while the Grand Pacific body shape gives you the warm, low-end power of a dreadnought guitar but with much more clarity.
Crafting the Builder’s Edition 517e
Toreffied Sitka Spruce has been used for the Taylor Builder’s Edition 517e’s top for a beautifully aged sound, broad dynamic range and rich tone.
The back and sides are made from Mahogany with their dry, woody character perfectly complementing the rich tones of the Sitka Spruce top.
Under the hood, you’ll find Taylor’s innovative V-Class bracing providing amazing projection and enhanced sustain.
Along with the new Grand Pacific guitar body shape, these features ensure beautifully balanced tone, fantastic resonance, low-end power and amazing clarity.
Taylor Builder’s Edition Features
With Taylor Builder’s Edition guitars, you get exclusive features that drastically improve sound and playability.
A new compound-carve neck profile is used, giving you a slight V profile at the nut which transitions to a rounded C towards the rounded, ridgeless heel.
Combine these features with the rolled fretboard edges and you have amazingly playability and incredible comfort for your fretting hand.
Adding to your overall comfort, the body features rounded, camfered edges and great looking, traditional binding.
Even the bridge has been updated, with the new curve wing bridge boasting rounded edges and other refined contouring offering enhanced comfort for your pick hand.
Expression System 2 Electronics
Incorporating an innovative behind-the-saddle design, the Expression System 2 beautifully captures all the dynamic properties of the Taylor 517e.
The patented pickup features three differently positioned sensors that are individually calibrated so you get better capture of the guitar’s dynamic range.
With Taylor’s own custom-designed, professional audio-grade preamp, the Expression System 2 offers beautiful amplified tone and incredible response.
