Tama Starphonic Snare Drum Specifications

  • Manufacturer: Tama
  • Shell Material: Bell Brass
  • Dimensions: 14" x 6"
  • Lug: Freedom Lug
  • Hoop: Grooved Hoop
  • Strainer: "Linear-Drive" Strainer

The Detachable Butt Plate is a great feature of this drum, it allows you to keep the same tension on the snare wires while you change the bottom head, a great design that will hopefully become standard. Along with the Butt Plate is the Ratchet Snare Strainer, which is designed to prevent the snare from loosening during a performance by using high-pressure retention through fine gears.

In Use

When it comes to snare drums, Bell Brass is the ultimate shell and this Starphonic doesn't disappoint anyone, the Diecast hoops and claw lugs look incredible, and the lugs hold their tuning well because of the non-loosening rubber gaskets inside the lug casings.

The drum roars at a medium tuning and even higher will start to peel away the membrane off yours and the next street over eardrums. That being said it's a good volume and controllable with tons of power and projection with incredible sensitivity.
