4:2 Blend
This 8 inch Ice Blue Pearl tom is constructed from 4 plies of European Birch combined with 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut.
Delivering a tone that combines the best of both woods, this tom blends the even high, mid and low frequencies of Walnut with the boosted high end, scooped mids and punchy low end of birch.
The combination of the two complement each other brilliantly to produce a sound that has a balanced tone across the full frequency range.
The even highs of walnut are supported by the pronounced highs of birch, while the slightly reduced mids of birch are increased by the even mid-range response of walnut.
The combined low-end response of both woods serves to deliver a big, full punchy bottom end tone.
The result is a rack tom that delivers clear cutting projection ideal for live performances, while still maintaining a full, depth of tone ideal for the studio.
Die-Cast Hoops
As with all the toms of the Tama Starclassic range, this 8x6 inch is fitted with Die-Cast Zine hoops to ensure a durable hold.
Offering superb shape consistency these die-cast hoops ensure an accurate, reliable tuning response providing drums that are easier to tune and that stay in tune longer.
The result is a tom sound that has a crisper attack with improved projection and a more focused, powerful tone.
Hold Tight Washers
Further aiding reliable tuning, this Tama Starclassic Walnut Birch tom comes fitted with hold tight washers.
Specifically designed to prevent the tension rods from loosening as you play, Tama hold tight washers feature a patented C-shaped design which is fitted with a rubber ring.
The rubber ring serves to absorb the impact of vibration that occurs as you play the tom, which in turn keeps the tension rod in constant contact with the hoops to prevent loosening.
The result is a tom sound with more consistent, longer lasting tuning and a more reliable tone.
Star-Cast Mounting System
This 8 inch Starclassic Walnut/Birch tom comes fitted with the innovative Star-Cast Mounting System which works to aid the tom tone.
Providing maximum resonance and stability, the Tama Star Mount ensures secure positioning and easy placement of the tom without impeding resonance and tone.
The streamlined design of the mount allows closer positioning of toms next to each other, while the chrome plated aluminium construction ensures stylish looks and a lighter weight for improved tonal vibration.
Quick-Lock Tom Brackets
The patented quick-lock tom bracket fitted to this 8 inch Starclassic tom accommodates super speedy setup and pack down of your kit.
The quick lock and tom bracket are one complete device on the drum, allowing you to set up your desired tom position without the need for extra locks or additional components.
Once in place, simply slide the switch on the tom bracket to split it into 2 parts leaving the memory lock portion in place on the tom arm.
The next time you come to setup your kit you achieve consistent positioning with speed and ease.
