Star Bearing Edge

Tama Star drums have a round peak bearing edge which provides more contact between the shell and drum head.

Furthermore, with the peak position of the edge at 3.5mm from the shell’s outer surface, these shells benefit from even more improved contact between the drumhead and drum.

Specially Designed Lugs for Minimum Shell Contact

Newly designed lugs were made especially for Tama Star drums, providing fantastic, premium looks with an extremely low mass bridge construction which ensures minimum contact with the shell. The bass drum claw hooks even “float” on the surface of the hoops.

Furthermore, these shells also feature an eye-catching imprinted badge along with a small wooden air hole grommet, further reducing the weight of materials on the shells thus improving their tone and resonance.

Super Resonant Mounting System

To get the most out of your drums’ natural resonance, the toms should be mounted with as small amount of stress on the shells and hoops as possible.

To achieve this, Tama Star drums boast the Super Resonant Mounting System; a completely new mounting concept.

Utilising a patented system, the shells feature a unique weight support with which dramatically reduces stress on the shell and hoop while increasing the natural resonance.

In addition to this, the shells also have rubber at each contact point between the shell and mounting system, isolating the shells and minimising vibration transference.

Die-Cast Hoops and Hold Tight Washers

Die-cast zinc hoops are used on these drum shells. Manufactured using injection moulded molten metal, these die-cast hoops denser and much more consistent in shape than standard triple-flanged hoops which are made by bending metal plates.

Because of this density and consistency, these die-cast hoops make tuning easier while keeping the drums in tune longer.

These hoops also provide beautifully crisp attack, great projection, increased focus and powerful tone.

As a result, you get rich, resonant shells with full-bodied, well-balanced sound.

Hold Tight washers are also used with the Tama Star shells.  These patented washers feature rubber rings that absorb impact from vibration while keeping the tension rods in contact with the hoops to prevent the tension rods from loosening.

Specially Designed Tom Drum Legs and Bass Drum Spurs

Since floor toms are usually positioned vertically, the legs absorb a lot of the impact as it comes down.

With this in mind Tama have designed Star floor tom legs to have a special, hollow, soft rubber construction. As a result, impact is absorbed differently, enhancing sustain and the drum’s natural resonance.

This special construction also enhances playability with the feet providing a comfortable feel and response to your drumming.

The bass drum spurs feature a similar concept and are made with soft, high-mass rubber feet.

Furthermore, the bass drum spurs feature a unique 2-piece construction that gives you all the benefits of the rubber feet and the secure stability of metal spikes.
