In 1980, the TAMA Mastercraft Bell Brass snare drum was born. At the time, the Bell Brass was designed to match the explosive sounds of a new decade in music and delivered the purest snare sound ever achieved. Widely used in heavy rock music of the 80s and 90s, TAMA's Bell Brass snare drum came to simply be known as "THE TERMINATOR". As aggressive of a sound it produced, its versatility was unmatched as it found its way into the hands of the world's top Jazz & Fusion drummers of the era.

The Tama Bell Brass snare drum, a studio favorite during the era of expansive '80s drum sounds, the unique qualities have left a lasting impression on drummers, recording engineers, and producers. Hand-cast and crafted in Japan, Tama utilizes a process reminiscent of cymbal production to create a single-piece, seamless brass shell.

The manufacturing technique aims to eliminate stress in the shell by avoiding bending during production. Traditional methods involving bending materials often result in internal stress, even with gluing or welding. The seamless metal shell of the Bell Brass snare drum offers continuous vibration without interruptions from weld seams, contributing to its distinctive musicality.

Tama's advanced manufacturing methods deliver a snare drum that excels in crucial aspects of design, including tuning stability across a wide range, impressive volume capacity, a unique and beautiful tone, and striking visual aesthetics. While the higher price tag may pose a consideration for some, the Bell Brass snare drum stands as a quality addition to any serious drum kit, maintaining its reputation for excellence in the drumming community.

In Use

Time and time again you see these snare drums set up in a studio, they are the ultimate recording snare for that powerful low end crack, just listen to the snare drum sound on any Nirvana record, Metallica Black album, any Meshuggah record infact Thomas Haake utilises a Tama Bell Brass live. This Calossal snare is very much saught after, as soon as one pops up online they are snaffled up and for eye watering amounts of money, These won't last long and are an incredible investment addition to your drumming arsenal.
