This Limited Edition 14" x 4.5" G-Hickory snare drum features a 12-ply, 11mm Hickory shell, with a gorgeous Elm outer ply. Hickory, usually reserved for making drumsticks, provides a bright and very crisp tone and coupled with the thick shell and shorter depth than usual results in a powerful but and the same time extra sensitive snare drum we have before us here at PMT. The die-cast hoops offer a punch attack alongside the crisp buzz from the carbon steel snare wires. This combination achieves an excellent balance between volume and sensitivity. While versatile like a maple shell, Hickory's dry characteristics make it an ideal auxiliary snare drum, while its wide tuning range makes it suitable for any genre. The hardware is solid, Die-Cast hoops and 10 lugs making for a lot of tuning possibilities you can dial in, snare butt and strainer are super slick and easy to use keeping the 20 strand carbon steel snare wires in check and snappy
Tip: As much as the shallow depth, in theory, is catered more towards the medium-higher registers of tuning, because of the shell thickness, tunings in the lower register really sound beefy and still have amazing cut, playability, and power whereas sometimes when you tune a deeper snare low it can often be a harder to control and you can loose quite a bit of feel!
