Driven by their proprietary VOLTAiR technology, the Phonitor SE from SPL brings the renowned accuracy of their world-class headphone monitoring systems to an affordable and streamlined amplifier, delivering exceptional performance comparable to its more expensive counterparts.
While mixing on speakers is generally preferred in most studios for optimal translation across different consumer playback systems, headphones offer a distinct audio projection due to their straightforward driver configuration. SPL addresses this challenge with their in-house developed "Phonitor Matrix," which emulates the 30-degree crossfade angle found in speakers, enabling headphones to provide a truly speaker-like performance. This technology ensures that the playback on headphones closely resembles the original intent of studio engineers during the mixing and mastering process.
The Phonitor SE also incorporates a built-in 'Crossfeed' feature, allowing users to control the level of crosstalk or 'inter-aural level' between the left and right channels. The crossfeed intensity can be adjusted by selecting positions C1 and C2 via the front panel.
Designed with a streamlined approach, the Phonitor se offers a clean and uncluttered design, focusing on delivering monitoring accuracy with minimal complexity. It features two gold-plated RCA connectors for analog inputs, while digital inputs can be accessed through SPL's optional DAC768xs module, providing USB, coaxial, and optical connectivity.
Crafted in Germany, the Phonitor SE's powerful amplifier stage provides ample headroom to accommodate even the most demanding electrostatic headphones. As with all SPL products, only the highest-grade components are carefully selected for the internal circuitry, ensuring uncompromising quality and performance.
