The Marc One from SPL is a feature-packed device that combines a full 32-bit AD and DA converter with monitor control functionality and high-quality recording inputs.
SPL enthusiasts will recognize the inclusion of their proprietary Phonitor Matrix technology, which allows for headphone mixing in a simulated speaker configuration. In the Marc One, this technology is integrated directly into the headphone amplifier section and can be adjusted using the Crossfade control pot located on the front panel.
The Marc One offers a range of versatile routing options, enabling connectivity for two separate switchable speaker sets and the addition of a single subwoofer to the first set, if desired.
The monitor switcher section includes a third "mute" setting, allowing for easy silencing of the outputs without requiring adjustment of the main volume pot.
At the rear of the unit, the Marc One provides a USB connection that is compatible with both PC and Mac, along with two analogue stereo inputs for connecting various source components such as analogue mixers, preamps, samplers, or MP3 players.
Designed around the AK4490 converter chip, the Marc One delivers premium 32-bit DA and AD conversion with the help of AKM's Velvet Sound technology, which is incorporated into every DAC board. As a result, the playback showcases even the finest details of the audio material while maintaining impressively low distortion levels. The device supports sampling frequencies of up to 768kHz PCM (sixteen times the resolution of CDs) and offers Direct Stream Digital playback coverage up to DSD4 or DSD256.
