The SPL 2Control is a compact and intuitive monitor controller that delivers exceptional audio quality, designed to facilitate precise mixing on both headphones and studio monitors. True to its name, the 2Control provides two separate input sources, two stereo outputs for speakers, and two balanced outputs for multiple headphone monitoring applications.
Each speaker output of the 2Control is equipped with its balancing stage, ensuring optimal signal integrity. Likewise, the two headphone outputs feature separate amplification, allowing for independent operation according to the listener's preferences.
Borrowing from the renowned Phonitor headphone amplifier model by SPL, the 2Control incorporates Crossfeed technology. This unique feature brings headphone mixing closer to the experience of studio monitor mixing by addressing the inherent differences in driver configuration between headphones and angled studio monitors. Crossfeed corrects the stereo panorama, resulting in an improved stereo image and a more accurate and translatable mix.
The volume control of the 2Control utilizes a high-quality ALPS RK27 "Big Blue" potentiometer, bolstered by active electronics. This integration of active circuitry ensures a boost in audio reproduction quality and avoids impedance shifts that may occur as volume levels are adjusted.
Many modern sound cards and converters prioritize lower bit rates over providing analogue level control, leading to a compromise in audio quality. With the 2Control, independent control outside of the digital audio workstation (DAW) is possible, minimizing any loss in audio quality and eliminating the risk of overdriving or underdriving converters when adjusting levels.
