Keith Merrow Signature 7 String Guitar
Built to Extremely High Requirements
Keith Merrow’s virtuosic style of playing guitar as evidenced in supergroup collaborations such as Alluvial and Conquering Dystopia demands an extremely high level of skill but certain heights can only be reached when using the right instrument.
This is where Schecter comes in with an incredible Keith Merrow signature guitar; the KM-7 FR S. Ease of playing and master level guitar skills have been the focus behind Schecter’s design philosophy with this guitar.
Due it’s lightweight providing enhanced comfort and allowing you to focus purely on your playing, Swamp Ash was selected as the wood of choice for the body.
Set-neck construction of the KM-7 has seen Schecter’s special Ultra Access treatment; a deep pocket insertion of the neck providing incredible reach of the higher frets. A small, slim heel with an extremely smooth finish improves playability even further.
The body itself has a deep, double horn design which further enhances the reach of the upper frets making it easier to go from the first fret all the way up until you reach the very final 24th fret. For further playability, the frets are X-Jumbo sized.
Stainless steel frets provide a significantly improved, and smoother playing experience and compared to regular frets they’re nigh on indestructible – no matter how hard you play it’ll be a long, long time before you begin to see any wear in these frets.
The ultra thin ‘C’ shape of the neck makes it extremely comfortable and even easier to play. The neck also benefits from a compound radius allowing you to get great low-action bends without fretting out while 1-ply carbon fibre is used for the binding.
Also, carbon fibre reinforcement rods run the length of the neck to give you the most stable, secure guitar build possible.
As you can tell, the Schecter KM-7 has been designed from the ground up to allow for the highest levels of guitar playing.
Sustainiac Electronics with Nazgul Pickup Power
Of course, when designing the KM-7, Schecter had to carefully select the electronics used in order to produce the incredible and unique sounds that Keith Merrow needs to produce is otherworldly music.
In the bridge position, the KM-7 FR S is equipped with a Seymour Duncan Nazgul humbucker pickup. Designed specifically for use with 8 and 7 string guitars, the Nazgul pickup combines a large ceramic magnet with custom winding specs.
Designed to perform great with low tunings under high gain, the Nazgul can produce fantastic note articulation, with clear highs, beefy lows and a brutal chug. Awesome harmonic content and extremely tight bass response – the Seymour Duncan Nazgul is hand built in California and has prog-metal built into its very heart.
In the neck pickup position is the incredible Sustainiac pickup. The Sustainiac pickup takes the vibrations of the guitar processes it and then it is amplified by the Systainiac circuit.
This processed and amplified pickup signal is then connected to the Sustainiac driver which turns your amplified guitar note into vibrational energy. This energy is then fed back into the strings via the Sustainer resulting in an intense vibration, awesome harmonics and a note that will sustain indefinitely.
Imagine having the feedback you get from your amp but in a completely controllable state, built into your guitar so you don’t have to go anywhere and with a sustain that will literally last for as long as you want it to.
To control your sound there is a volume control and a 3-way pickup selector switch. To accommodate the Sustainiac system and allow you full control over this awesome technology is another set of controls that give you a 2-way On/Off Sustainiac switch and a 3-way Sustainiac mode switch so you can flick between Fundamental, Mix and Harmonic modes.
Heavy Metal Hardware
The nut that Schecter have installed is a Floyd Rose 1500 Series locking nut which keeps your strings perfectly in tune, even with extreme bending.
Pairing excellently with this is the Floyd Rose 1500 series tremolo bridge allowing you to get some incredible whammy bar action and returning perfectly to your tuning of choice.
In addition to this are a set of 7 rock solid Grover tuners have been installed so you get quick, precise tuning of your strings that holds.
You can pretty much throw any level of playing at this guitar, no matter how extreme your bends and it’s going to stay solidly and securely in tune.
Reach New Heights of Playing
Designed from the bottom up for technical metal and virtuoso style playing, the Schecter Keith Merrow signature guitar has removed all the boundaries and obstacles that hold you back from reaching your potential.
This guitar is made to be played at the highest levels and it gives you all the tools needed to reach those heights.
