The Sabian HH Mid Max Stax Cymbal Pack was designed by Dream Theatre drummer Mike Portnoy. It consists of a 10" china and a 10" splash to create a fast response stack with a distinctive dark tone.

Mike Portnoy Signature 10" Stack

Mike Portnoy is well loved within the drum and prog rock world. He's played with the likes of Dream Theatre and Avenged Sevenfold and requires a sound palette to match a wide array of musical situations. Here, with Sabian, he's designed a combination of two 10" cymbals that work to create a distinctive, short, sharp stack perfect for accents and riding alike. The 10" Max Stax Kang China offers a trashy, raw sound while the 10" Max Stax splash provides a musical, fast, dark singing tone. The combination of the two work well together to create a short, trashy, dark sounding stack with a short sustain. If you're looking for a small stack to add to your cymbal set up for accents, or want that signature Mike Portnoy sound, look no further than the Mid Max Stax.

Hand-Hammered Process

The very popular range of HH cymbals are traditionally hand-hammered into shape and sound by highly skilled craftsmen.

Once hammered the cymbals are carefully lathed to thin the cymbal to the desired gauge while added those crucial tone grooves. Cymbals are then trimmed to an exact diameter and the edges are buffed to a smooth finish.

All cymbals are individually hand-tested twice to ensure they fit the parameters of the series and model.

This painstaking process and attention to detail ensures a cymbal with consistent characteristics across the range for a professional, robust cymbal that sounds great with every hit.
