The Sabian AAX 18” Medium Crash Cymbal delivers chunky projection, increased highs and dark lows thanks to its larger raw bell and new hammering style.
Meaty Medium Crash
Revealed at NAMM 2019 along with a controversial new logo, the new transformed Sabian AAX series injects a new palette of sound into this popular cymbal range.
The new Sabian logo was the centre of much discussion. Liked by some for its bold departure from the traditional logo, others didn’t like the new design at all.
But whatever your thoughts on the logo, it’s definitely in keeping with the new Sabian Unbound ethos of being individual.
The revamped AAX range sees the delisting of less popular lines, the maintenances of the successful Aero, Freq, Omni and X-Plosion, and the introduction of new crashes, hi-hats and rides.
Offering drummers a more focused range of sounds, the AAX series also features a new AAX hammering process to deliver smoother more refined highs and increased tonal complexity.
Sabian 21808XC AAX 18” Medium Crash Cymbal Key Features:
- Larger Raw Bell
- New AAX Hammering Style
- Slightly Darker Tone
- Brighter Highs, More Complex Lows
- Wider Band of Frequency
Uncompromising Individuality
Designed to meet the demands of diverse modern music styles, the Sabian AAX cymbals incorporate the latest manufacturing technologies to achieve the forward-thinking innovation Sabian continually strives for.
The whole premise of the new AAX cymbal range is to celebrate individuality.
Encouraging drummers to seek out their own unique sound and style, the AAX range provides a variety of sounds to help you build your creative voice.
AAX were made for those who want to shape the future rather than follow the crowd.
For those who don’t care what others are doing but instead prefer to forge their own musical path to achieve their unique sound.
If you’re searching for your next musical move and your own future sound. Look no further than Sabian AAX.
Big Bell
The Sabian AAX 18” Medium Crash has a larger raw bell than typically found on crashes of this size.
Incorporated to inject a weightier projection into the crash sound, the larger bell serves to add more meat to the tone.
Providing a robustness to the crash sound, the use of the larger bell adds a chunkiness to the sound for a crash with substantial impact.
Perfect for occasions when you need more punch and weight behind your projection, this crash delivers a meaty burst of accenting tone.
As with all the new additions to the AAX range, this 18” medium crash features a completely new AAX hammering style.
Providing a much more visibly hammered aesthetic, this new process utilises a bigger, rounder peen which serves to provide a cymbal with a more complex tone and a slightly darker sound.
In addition to adding a new aesthetic, this hammering style also expands the frequency width of the crash by opening up the top end.
The increased, brighter highs and more complex dark lows blend perfectly to deliver a full sound that’s strongly represented across the frequencies.
Producing the bright attacking cut needed to pierce through the mix, this crash also provides great depth of tone thanks to its weighty projection and complex low sound.
Summary
Blending a completely new hammering style with a bigger, raw bell, this Sabian 18” medium crash provides a brighter, faster, more complex sound.
Producing a wider range of tone that’s filled with punchy bright highs and powerful dark lows, this medium crash has a brilliantly versatile sound.
