Rickenbacker 5002V58, 8-String Mandolin, Mapleglo Finish
Despite originally rising to prominence during the 1930's, Rickenbacker's attempt at reigniting the music world's love for the Mandolin during the late 1950's was unfortunately short-lived. Now they're back with a vengeance, with the stunning 5002V58, a vintage reissue of the original 1958 Mandolin release, seen here in a gorgeous Mapleglo finish!
An 8-Stringed Electric Mandolin that's in a Class of its Own!
This instrument remains completely unique within it's class as a double-stringed electric instrument. Featuring a vintage Rickenbacker Toaster Top pickup carefully mounted on the stunning charactered maple and walnut lacquered body, this mandolin truly sings with a voice of its own.
Toaster Top Pickup
"Toaster Top" was the name given to the unique Single Coil pickups that helped create the famous Rickenbacker "Jangle" sound. Constructed using six individual Alnico magnets set vertically within the coil, these vintage-style pickups offer a sound that's noticeably brighter, clearer and slightly deeper than their more-modern High-Gain counterparts, allowing the instrument to generate a strikingly natural tone, with a voice that's both bright and clear.
