Amongst the multitude of famous Rickenbacker players over the years, for me there's none more iconic than Pete Townshend, standing on stage with Rickenbacker in hand, his right-arm raised above his head about to do his famous "windmill" style chord strum.  Seeing that for the first time is what inspired me to become a musician in the first place.  And now, in line with Pete's wishes, Rickenbacker have released the 1993Plus, an updated reprisal of Pete's beloved 1993 guitar.

This gorgeous 12-string guitar comes complete with three vintage Toaster Top pickups, stereo output sockets, trapeze tailpiece, vintage knobs, and a violin-style F-hole in place of the more traditional crescent shaped sound hole.  To top it all off it comes complete with a gorgeous Fireglo finish, double body-binding and pearlescent triangle fret markers!

Premium Quality Construction

The body's X-Bracing really helps to bring out the full, rich and warm sounds that is the hallmark of Rickenbacker guitars.  Combined with the haunting, melodic chorus characteristics of Rickenbacker 12-string guitars, and you have a simply sublime premium-quality instrument that looks and plays every bit as good as it sounds.

Toaster Top Pickup

"Toaster Top" was the name given to the unique Single Coil pickups that helped create the famous Rickenbacker "Jangle" sound.  Constructed using six individual Alnico magnets set vertically within the coil, these vintage-style pickups offer a sound that's noticeably brighter, clearer and slightly deeper than their more-modern High-Gain counterparts, allowing the instrument to generate a strikingly natural tone, with a voice that's both bright and clear.

12 Strings

A 12-string guitar produces a far richer tone than a standard six-string.  The additional strings on the instrument are placed side-by-side with the traditional 6 strings, with only a narrow gap between them, and whilst the Top E and B strings are tuned in unison with their counterparts (essentially, doubling up), the 4 extra strings in the lower register are tuned to an octave higher than their own counterpart, making for a beautifully rich wash of sound even when playing the simplest of chords.
