Big brands, little prices

We’re in a golden age for guitars. Quality has never been higher for the price points we can offer. This means you can pick up high-calibre instruments from brands like Ibanez and Jackson for under £200. Maybe you’re shopping the Encore range, or getting some of the best value for money on the market with iconic guitars from Antiquity.

Not cheap – affordable!

We don’t like the idea of cheap electric guitars. It’s not about being cheap. It’s about being affordable and offering great value. Which is exactly what we do at PMT. As the saying goes – you buy cheap, you buy twice. When you buy one of our electric guitars under £200, you know you’re getting a quality instrument that’s going to last. And that applies to both our new and pre-owned electric guitars.

Affordable vs expensive

Are you a beginner starting out? Maybe you’re more experienced and looking to try out a new style. Whatever it is, understanding the difference between affordable and expensive guitars is key. Where and how the guitar is made impacts price, as well as things like what wood it’s made from, what pickups it has and what the finish is like. Knowing what’s important to you will help guide you to the right guitar for you.

Whatever it is you’re looking for, we have a great choice of affordable electric guitars. Check out our range and head down to your local PMT store if you’d like to try one out.

Electric Guitars under £200 - FAQs

What is a decent price for an electric guitar?

You can spend almost anything you want to on an electric guitar, but nowadays it’s possible to buy a quality instrument for less. As long as they’re manufactured to a high standard, you can get excellent electric guitars for under £200. But you can of course spend more to access the features you get at higher price points.

How expensive should your first guitar be?

How much you pay for your first guitar will come down to your budget and what you’re willing to spend. Whether it’s for yourself or you’re buying it for someone else, you may prefer to stick to a budget of around £200 or less. You can get a quality instrument for this price, and potentially move up to a higher price point with the next guitar. Alternatively, you may prefer to pay more for your first guitar so you don’t have to buy twice.

Are cheaper guitars harder to play?

Some of the features that make guitars more expensive have little to no bearing on how easy they are to play. However, cheap electric guitars that are made to a poor standard can be harder to play. You should find affordable electric guitars manufactured to a high standard easier to play than cheap ones.
