Red Label Heritage

First released in 1966, the Nippon Gakki Red Label FG acoustic guitar went on to become one of Yamaha's most iconic instruments.

Torakusu Yamaha originally founded the Nippon Gakki Co. in 1887, and while the company now goes by his own name, it was "Nippon Gakki" that was famously associated with the red labels on the original Folk Guitar series.

Now, Yamaha are reintroducing the Red Label series, giving you the chance to own one a fantastic modern Folk Guitar with clear heritage of its legendary origins.

Solid Sitka Spruce is used for the top, offering rich midrange and great low-frequency response with fantastic overall focus.

Solid Mahogany is used for the back and sides, strengthening your midrange tones whilst adding warmth.

Acoustic Resonance Enhancement

Exclusive to Yamaha is the Acoustic Resonance Enhancement (A.R.E.) wood treatment and it has been applied to the solid Sitka Spruce top of the Yamaha FS3.

The A.R.E. treatment uses a combination of heat, humidity and atmospheric pressure to accelerate the aging process of the wood.

As a result, you get incredibly rich and resonant, authentically vintage tone from day one.

Other Fantastic Features

Within the body of the Yamaha FS3 is a new scalloped bracing style that has been optimised to work perfectly with the tone woods of the guitar.

This results in fuller, stronger sound with added warmth for tone that's ideal for modern folk and singer songwriter performance.

Furthermore, while the body style of the Yamaha FS3 is derived from the concert guitar, it is slightly wider. This gives you an even warmer sound to fill out your performance.

The headstock is the same style as found on the original 60s models and features a traditional truss rod cover that pays homage to the guitar's origins with "Since 1966" emblazoned on it.

High Quality Hardware

Mounted to the headstock of the Yamaha FS3 is a set of Gotoh open gear tuners offering precise and secure tuning with an old school aesthetic.

Down on the body, there's an Ebony bridge providing fantastic transfer of string vibration to the solid Sitka Spruce top of the Yamaha FS3.
