All Solid Acoustic Guitar
The Yamaha A3R ARE is the most popular acoustic guitar body type; the dreadnought. With its larger body, it is able to produce loud tones with great low end.
For the top of the A3R electro-acoustic guitar, Yamaha have used solid Sitka Spruce. With the perfect combination of strength and elasticity, Sitka Spruce is ideal for a broad range of playing styles from aggressive strumming to fingerpicking.
The back and sides are made with solid Rosewood. Noted for its broad, rich tones and articulate high end, Rosewood is one of the most popular and traditional guitar woods of all time.
Through extensive research with guitarists, luthiers and guitar techs, Yamaha have crafted an incredible neck for the Yamaha A3R.
An ebony fretboard provides an extremely smooth playing surface while hand-rolled fretboard edges give you a played-in feel from day one.
You will also enjoy the straighter neck taper which makes for easier high-fret playing while the high comfort neck profile provides a better playing experience for your fretting hand.
Incredible Acoustic Sound
With cutting-edge acoustic analysis technology developed by the Yamaha R&D division, thorough research has lead to the development of a new scalloped bracing for the top board and shorter bracing on the back board.
As a result, the Yamaha A3R ARE dreadnought is louder and delivers even stronger low-mid tones.
Possibly the greatest advancement for the A3R ARE is the use of Yamaha’s exclusive A.R.E. (Acoustic Resonance Enhancement) on the wood used for the solid top.
Heating the wood while controlling the temperature, humidity and atmospheric pressure to exacting degrees, this process accelerates the ageing of the wood.
As a result, the Yamaha A3R ARE gives you beautifully rich, vintage quality, acoustic tone and sounds like a guitar you’ve been playing for years right from the first time you play it.
Amazing Electronics for Great Plugged-In Sound
For most electro-acoustic guitars, as good as they may sound when played unplugged, they lose all their fantastic tone as soon as you plug-in to play live on stage.
So, when developing the A3R ARE, Yamaha set out to create a guitar that sounds as good plugged-in as it does when played acoustic. Enter the SRT2 (Studio Response Technology) electronics.
Whether you want a great piezo sound to cut through the mix or a beautiful, pure acoustic tone that sounds as if it was recorded by vintage microphones in a professional studio – the SRT2 electronics give you both.
Furthermore; you can blend these two sounds together to get the exact sound you want and craft your own, signature tone.
Better yet – you can even choose between the sounds of two different high-end, vintage microphones. Through extensive research, recording acoustic guitars in world-class studios with incredible microphones, Yamaha have developed incredible recreations of the sound they produce.
Mic type 1 gives you the sound of the A3R recorded with a Neumann U67 Large Diaphragm Condenser Microphone, while mic type 2 gives you the sound as if recorded by a Royer R122 Active Ribbon Microphone.
Using these different mic types means you can get great sound on stage or in the studio!
Tailor Your Tone with Fantastic Control
With just four easy-to-use knobs, the controls are minimalist in appearance yet extremely effective in their results.
A blend control allows you to adjust the mix between the piezo pickup and microphone modelled sounds to get the perfect sound. If you push this control in, you can toggle between the two different microphone types.
Next, you can use the Treble and Bass controls to adjust the high and low frequencies respectively.
By pushing the Bass control in, you activate the AFR function, or Auto Feedback Reduction. When activated, the AFR system automatically detects the frequency causing feedback and applies a -12dB notch filter, instantly eliminating it.
Last but not least, there’s a Volume control for quick and easy adjustment of your overall output level.
And It Looks Great Too!
Not only does the Yamaha A3R ARE feel and sound great, it has looks to match!
Simple, organic influenced design combines with great features such as the Mahogany and cream binding and Rosewood and Mahogany rosette for a beautiful aesthetic that captures the warmth and essence of natural wood.
Also, paying tribute to the Yamaha N1000 released back in 1975, the Yamaha A3R ARE features a distinctively shaped tortoise pattern pickguard.
Perfect for taking along to your next gig, the A3R ARE even comes with hard gig bag – as convenient and portable as a standard gigbag while offering significantly improved protection for your guitar.
With two high quality shoulder straps, two sturdy handles and a compartment to store your accessories such as cables, strings, tuner and picks, this hard Yamaha gig bag is extremely useful.
For an electro-acoustic guitar that sounds as good plugged-in as it does unplugged and is perfect for the stage and the studio, buy the Yamaha A3R ARE.
