The Epiphone SG P-90 is a unique variation of the classic Epiphone SG, featuring P-90 single-coil pickups instead of the standard humbuckers. This gives the guitar a distinctive tonal character—gritty, punchy, and a bit more articulate than traditional humbucker-equipped SGs. The addition of P-90s makes it an excellent choice for players who want a blend of classic rock, blues, and vintage-inspired tones.

Key Features
Body:

Mahogany body with the signature SG double-cutaway design.
The SG body shape is lightweight, ergonomically comfortable, and allows for excellent access to higher frets, making it perfect for soloing.
Neck:

Mahogany neck with a slim-taper profile, designed for fast, comfortable playing.
Set-neck construction, contributing to improved sustain and tonal resonance.
Fingerboard:

Rosewood or Indian Laurel fingerboard, featuring 22 medium jumbo frets and Trapezoid inlays.
The short scale (24.75") provides a smoother, easier playing experience with more bendability on notes.
Pickups:

Two Epiphone P-90 single-coil pickups (neck and bridge).
The P-90 pickups offer a bright, snappy tone with plenty of midrange punch, adding articulation and a growling edge to your sound. These pickups are known for their raw, dynamic character and are excellent for genres like rock, blues, punk, and garage rock.
Controls:

2 volume knobs and 2 tone knobs for each pickup, giving you plenty of control over shaping your sound.
3-way toggle switch for selecting the neck, bridge, or both pickups in combination.
Bridge:

LockTone Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece for improved tuning stability and sustain.
Tone & Performance
Punchy and Articulate:
The P-90 pickups are brighter and have more midrange presence compared to humbuckers, but they still offer grit and power. They are less prone to feedback than traditional humbuckers, which allows them to shine through in a mix, especially in live performances.

Classic Rock and Blues:
The P-90s bring out a more raw, vintage tone that’s great for players who love classic rock, blues, punk, or garage rock. You can get crispy cleans or gritty overdriven tones, and they respond very well to dynamics and pick attack.

Great for Lead & Rhythm:
The P-90s make it easier to achieve crunchy rhythms or cut-through leads with clarity, giving you the flexibility to play both powerful riffs and smooth, expressive solos. You can dial back the tone for a more mellow sound or crank it up for a fuzzy, aggressive tone.

Playability:
The slim neck profile and ergonomic SG body make it easy to navigate the fretboard, whether you’re playing fast solos or deep rhythm work. The lightweight body also means it's comfortable for long sessions or gigs.

Who Is It For?
Ideal for rock, blues, punk, and garage rock players who want a vintage-inspired sound with more articulation and punch than humbuckers typically provide.
If you're after a gritty, dynamic tone with more clarity and edge, the Epiphone SG P-90 is a fantastic choice.
Perfect for those who want a classic SG design but with a twist, thanks to the P-90 pickups and their unique tonal character.
