Maple Shell

The shell of this Pearl Modern Utility snare is constructed from 6 plies of 100% maple.

Known for its even high and mid frequencies and characterised by its warm low-end tone, maple offers a great all-purpose sound.

Whether you need the snappy sharp attack required in a live sound environment or you want a lower tuning, more tone filled thud in the studio, this versatile Pearl Modern Utility Maple has you covered.

The 8" depth of the snare drum allows for a fuller, fatter, more robust low-end response compared to the 6" deep snare.

Superior Shell Technology

As with all Pearl’s wooden shells, the Modern Utility snare has been built using Pearl’s proprietary Superior Shell Technology to ensure superior tone, optimum resonance and superb strength.
The process begins with the wood selection. The Poplar and Mahogany used in this Pearl drum kit have been specifically selected for their unique acoustic attributes.

The wood is then milled to a precise thickness and put together using overlapping scarf joint seams to ensure a perfect, air-tight fit.

The plies are then covered with Pearl’s proprietary “AcoustiGlue” which seeps into the pores of the wood before being dried to an exact consistency to give the wood optimum resonance.

The plies are then formed in high temperature moulds under 1000 PSI hydraulic pressure to produce a perfectly round drum shell.

Low Contact Lugs

The Pearl Modern Utility Maple snare is adorned with CL Bridge lugs which have been specifically designed to reduce contact with the shell in order to improve shell performance.

By limiting the contact with the shell, the CL Bridge Lugs ensure minimal interference with the shell resonance. This means the shell is able to vibrate freely when hit to ensure a clear projection and improved sustain.

The result is a snare with a clear, cutting tone and a full, warm sustain.

SR700 Strainer and 1.6mm Hoops

The Pearl Modern Utility Maple 14 x 8” snare is fitted with a Pearl SR700 snare throw off providing a smooth, clean action allowing you to quickly and easily adjust and set your desired snare sensitivity.

The snare is fitted with 1.6mm triple flanged hoops for a durable playing set up that will withstand the hardest of cross sticks.
