Drawing inspiration from old Foxx Tone Machine, a classic fuzz pedal from 1970 and the later Prescription Electronics Experience, the Orange Fur Coat Fuzz has that great, thick fuzz sound but with a multitude of sound sculpting knobs not found on the Foxx Tone Machine.

True Bypass Vintage Fuzz

Vintage fuzz pedals from the 1970s can be hard to come by nowadays and they usually cost you a pretty penny. With the Fur Coat Fuzz pedal, Orange have given us an opportunity to get that same classic fuzz sound with an assortment of adjustable parameters and more affordable price tag.

To date, this is the only True Bypass pedal from Orange. The reason for this is that, quite simply, vintage fuzz sounds better with true bypass. Without a buffer in place, the Fur Coat Fuzz is can, and should be at the very start of the signal chain.

Adjustable Parameters

On the Fur Coat Fuzz, you will find to footswitches – the one on the right activates the fuzz while the one on the left activates the octave and is usable only when fuzz is activated.

With most fuzz pedals and the like, when the Octave is active, it is all or nothing - not so with the Fur Coat Fuzz.

Orange have designed the Fur Coat Fuzz so it adds octave up as you increase the octave control. This allows you to have it full whack or take it down as you see fit, giving you a great many more options of how to use the pedal in your performances.

Also, when you have the Octave set to less anything less than max on the Fur Coat Fuzz, the Octave can be dialled in and out by turning your guitar volume between 8 and 10.
