A Reverb - With A Difference

What happens when you take a high quality Reverb unit and pass it through other ambient effects? The OBNE Dark Star, that's what.

This premium-grade, boutique effects pedal begins with a long-form, mood-influencing reverb circuit. The signal is then passed through one of three selectable modes, allowing you to influence the mood and create something truly "other".

Intuitive Controls

In addition to the usual "Reverb" and Wet/Dry "Mix" controls, the OBNE Dark Star features a 3-way Mode toggle switch, along with Ctrl 1 and Ctrl 2 pots, which change their function depending on the selected Mode:

  • Pitch - Ctrl 1 and Ctrl 2 adjust the depth of a + and - octave respectively
  • Delay - In this mode, the two Ctrl pots adjust both Delay Time and Feedback
  • Crush - This mode gives you a pitch control for +/- an Octave, alongside a control for Bit Crush

And finally, there's the two footswitches: Bypass and Hold. As you'd expect, Bypass is a standard Activation/Bypass switch, whilst Hold is a momentary footswitch - essentially activating the effect for as long as you have it held down.

On top of this, there's an Expression (EXP) socket, which allows you to take control over either CTRL1 or Reverb (changeable via internal DIP switches). This can take you from instant, cascading high-pitched shimmer reverb, to deep, rumbling sub-octave pads in mere moments.
