What Is The Launchpad X?

In short: the Launchpad X is the essential grid controller for the Ableton Live DAW.

Designed for expressive instrument performance, each of the RGB-backlit 8x8 pads feature velocity and pressure sensitivity, allowing you to capture each and every nuance of your playing.

Launchpad X also features a dedicated Record & Capture MIDI button, allowing you to take note of your ideas on the fly.

Ableton Live Integration

A new function for the Launchpad X - Note Mode - will allow you to choose between 16 different scales, scale/chromatic layout, root note, and pad overlap.

In addition to this, Note Mode also dynamically reacts to Ableton Live's loaded instrument by switching to a Drum Rack layout.

Not only that, but the RGB LEDs behind the pads on the Launchpad X perfectly match up with your Ableton Live session, letting you know exactly which clips you will be launching.

Total Performance Control

In Mixer Mode, the Launchpad X presents you with complete control over your performance.

This takes shape by way of virtual, velocity-sensitive faders, allowing you to take control of track Volumes, Pans, and Sends.

In addition to this, Mixer Mode also offers toggle controls for Stop, Solo, Mute, and Record Arm, which discretely take up the grids bottom row.

With its four powerful custom modes, you can use the Launchpad X to send CCs, notes, and even program change messages from the grid to the software of your choice.

Three-year Warranty On All Novation Hardware

Novation are excited to announce an extension to the standard limited warranty, which comes with all new products.

Previously, customers enjoyed a two-year warranty. Now — effective on purchases from 1st January 2018 onwards — the warranty period is 36 months from the date of the original purchase.

(The warranty period for product purchased on or prior to the 31st December 2017 remains at 24 months from the date of the original purchase.)

Create Personalised MIDI Mappings

For more-experienced producers looking to create their own MIDI mappings, the Launchpad X features 4 powerful custom modes.

Within these modes you can send out CCs, notes, and even program change messages from the grid to your DAW, whilst also assigning the pads to behanve as momentary switches, on/off toggles, or even as faders (in rows/columns).

Simply use the editor section of the web-based Novation Components platform and you can create your mappings with ease.
