Though the modernised version of the U87 features slightly improved circuity for enhanced and durable performance, Neumann was determined to maintain the dynamic charm of the original mics, which is why the Large Condenser's capsule remains the exact same.
With an extended headroom from the minimised resistance of the capsule bias voltage, the U 87 presents an enhanced signal to noise ratio of up to 3dB!
Large Dual-Diaphragm
Consistently providing you with the tools to achieve the sound your searching for, the Neumann U87 comes equipped with a large dual-diaphragm capsule with three directional patterns: omnidirectional, cardioid and figure-8. These are selectable with a switch below the headgrille. With a 10 dB attenuation switch is located on the rear, it enables the microphone to handle sound pressure levels up to 127 dB without distortion.
