Newly-Improved Performance
Boasting improved circuitry for a performance that'll never let you down, the core capsule that makes the Neumann U87 stand out remains the same. So you're able to achieve the same sonic quality that's been featured on an extensive range of timeless records and performances.
With more headroom than ever before, the newly-designed circuitry delivers an improved signal to noise ratio of up to 3dB, courtesy of a minimised resistance supplied by the capsule bias voltage.
Multiple Polar Patterns
The Neumann U87 consists of three adaptable polar patterns, the first is Cardioid, an excellent choice for a more refined sound with precision on stage or in a session.
However, Fig. 8 brings the ability to capture sound from not only the front but also the back whilst eliminating all sound from the sides. Something that's a must for backing vocals with absolute ease.
Not only that but the Omnidirectional option captures sound within a 360 degrees radius, essential for achieving the famous drum room sounds.
Customisable Functionality
Get the right sound for your session with ease thanks to the U87's built-in controls, so whether you're tracking drums and amplifiers with higher SPLs, the attenuator pad is sure to be helpful. By reducing the sensitivity of the capsule by 10 dB, you're able to avoid potential clipping and distortion.
