Industry-Standard 5-String - Optimised and Modernised

For a bass that's been the industry-standard extended-range model since 1987, improving on it would be no mean feat. However, for the new StingRay5 Special, that's exactly what Music Man have done.

Refined Body Contours

These new Music Man basses have been completely re-built from the ground up, and fully optimised to offer those familiar looks and tones in a package that appeals to even the most discerning of players.

As part of this re-design, Music Man have opted to give the StingRay Special a new, lightweight construction, with enhanced body contours. On top of this they have re-worked their hardware, which is now almost completely aluminium instead of steel.

The end result is a supremely lightweight and comfortable playing experience, whatever your playstyle. And this is before we've even mentioned the new pickup.

Powerful New Pickup

In place of the more traditional Alnico, the humbucker on the StingRay Special comes equipped with Neodymium magnets. This particular metal has a much stronger magnetic pull than Alnico, resulting in a more articulate sound when you play.

Complimenting this newly designed pickup is a powerful 18v preamp. Previous StingRay models would be equipped with a 9v preamp, which was pretty darn good on its own, however the 18v preamp on this bass offers a much more powerful sound than ever before.
