Back in 1985 Korg released the amazing DW-8000 - a synth that combined digital wavetables with rich analog filters, to produce the kind of sounds that were impossible with all-analog oscillators - and it quickly became a huge hit. So, if you liked that, then you'll love this!
A High-Powered, Modern Take On The Famous DW-8000!
With the Korg Modwave you get a modern-day synth that builds upon the legacy of the DW, transforming it into a powerhouse for the modern musician.
Featuring incredibly deep wavetable oscillators, excellent filters, flexible modulation, unmatched polyphony, comprehensive pattern sequencing, and satisfying hands-on controls, this synth is a monster to behold.

Two New, Unique Tools
A welcome addition to the Modwave would be two whole new tools for creating Dynamic Motion: Kaoss Physics, and Motion Sequencing 2.0.
For starters, Kaoss Physics combiness an x/y Kaoss pad, with modulateable game physics for a responsive, interactive, and (above all) fun to use controller.
In addition to this, Motion Sequencing 2.0 delivers the organic, continuously evolving patterns of the wavestate's Wave Sequencing 2.0 into the world of motion sequencing, with multiple lanes and even real-time recording.
Modwave Synth Engine
Featuring more than 200 wavetables from thousands of individual waves - each of which contains up to 64 waveforms - to say that the oscillators within this engine are deep would be an understatement.
You can use the 30+ modifiers to change the basic character of these waves and the 13 Morph Types to process them in realtime, whilst the unique, realtime A/B Blend allows you to create hybrids from any two wavetables simultaneously.
In other words: you have more than 230 million wavetable variations at your fingertips right out of the bos - and that's before you have added any modulation into the mix!
Kaoss Physics
As mentioned above, the Modwave comes complete with the Kaoss Physics function, whic hmodels a ball rolling over a surface and/or bouncing off walls.
Simply flick a finger on the x/y pad, or use a trigger source (such as Gate + Damper) to get the ball rolling, and you can also directly control the ball by holding your finger on the pad.
This pad can be used to control any modulation destilation that you wish, and offers an immersive, realtime feel to your performance like never before.
Motion Sequencing 2.0
As also mentioned above, the Modwave features Motion Sequencing 2.0 - an evolved form of wavestate's Wave Sequencing 2.0 - with control over Timing, Pitch, Shape, and four sets of Step Sequence values, to offer a more customisable level of phrase and modulation recording.
Whatever you decide to do with this function - whether it's matching step sequence values with different duration, pitch, and shapes - each Lane's loop points can be modulated separately for every note, and each note in a chord can be playing a different sound.
With this and much more available to you, performing with the Modwave feels organis, with ever-changing sounds that respond to your control in realtime.
Deeper Into The Synth Engine
As if all of that wasn't enough, the Modwave's synthesis engine offers the following:
- More than 30 Modifiers, to alter the character of any wavetable at load time
- 13 Morph Types, which allow you to stretch, squeeze, reflect, and otherwave alter the wavetables in real time
- A/B blend mode, allows you to blend any two wavetables with phase-synchronous precision
- Gigabytes-worth of samples for you to layer alongside your wavetables
- Filters for adding a range tone-shaping refinements, from aggressive, to strong and sweet, and beyond
- Precision control and modulations galore
- A huge arsenal of effects for delivering production-ready sounds
- Dedicated front-panel button, marked by a "dice" icon generates whole new sounds via intelligent randmisation
- Editor/Librarian software allows you to edit and organise your sounds via your own PC/Mac via USB connection
- Set Lists offers easy organisation of your performances, making it ideal for rehearsals and live performances
- Balanced stereo outputs offer easy connections to any recording or monitoring systems
- Free bundle of music software, including: Reason Lite, Izotope's Ozone Elements, Skoove, and a variety of software synths
