All-New Design Features
To help the PIA stand out from its JEM counterparts, Ibanez and Vai have opted to switch things up in terms of aesthetics.
For starters there's a newly designed PIA Blossom fretboard inlay - a stunning, prominent feature that perfectly evokes the style and artistic vision of Vai.
In addition to this, the infamous "Monkey Grip" is gone, and has been replaced with an exclusively-designed Petal Grip.
This new grip offers a balanced, contemporary design aesthetic, and symbolises a combination of unity, companionship, and interpersonal bonds (apparently).
Not only that, but the tremolo cavity plate on the rear of the guitar is now held in place magnetically, which allows for faster string changes and tremolo system adjustments.
Premium-Grade Construction
For the body, Ibanez have opted to use Alder, carved in that instantly-familiar 80's-style "Super-Strat" dual-cutaway shape.
Bolted on to the body is a 5-piece Maple and Walnut neck, carved to meet the demands of Vai's fluid playing technique.
In addition to this, the Rosewood fingerboard features scalloped frets from 21 to 24, along with Prestige Fret Edge treatment for a super-smooth playing experience
Signature DiMarzio Pickups
Based upon Vai's own tonal preferences, the DiMarzio UtoPIA pickups have been designed to offer smoother highs, more scooped mids, and a pronounced low-end.
These pickups bring together this incredible range of tones with beautiful aesthetics and design elements, making them the perfect fit for the PIA's cosmetic features.
Edge Tremolo Bridge
Ever since the creation of the first JEM in 1987, Steve Vai guitars have featured the innovative Edge tremolo bridge.
This bridge and its groundbreaking Lion's Claw tremolo cavity allows you to rapidly increase and lower your guitar's pitch without affecting your tuning stability.
