The Hagstrom Viking has been widely recognised as the most versatile semi-hollow guitar in the current market, capable of delivering a wide range of tonal variations to cater to a diverse array of musical genres. To expand the Viking's voice further, Hagstrom ventured into producing a deep and resonant baritone version.
While some guitarists may view baritone instruments as limited in their application, the Hagstrom Viking Baritone challenges this notion. The guitar boasts two brand-new pickups designed specifically for the Viking Baritone's lush acoustics, adding depth and nuance to produce a broad spectrum of sonic colours.
In the bridge position, the Viking Baritone features Hagstrom's latest Custom 58'C, a semi-open-coiled humbucker tailored to enhance the Viking's natural ringing clarity even in its lowest sub-registers. The neck position is occupied by Hagstrom's P-Urified pickup, a specially crafted, full-humbucking-sized P90 pickup that imparts warmth and openness while maintaining tight and controlled lower frequencies.
The end product is a tonal range spanning from clean and classic 1960s sounds to "Spaghetti Western" twang, to the overdriven crunch of the 1970s and 1980s, and culminating in the "Über-Driven" tones demanded by today's players. All of these sounds are built on the foundation of the Viking Baritone's uniquely deep and distinctive acoustic voice.
