The Hagstrom Viking has gained widespread recognition as the most versatile semi-hollow guitar available today, offering a broad spectrum of tonal variations suitable for a diverse range of musical genres. Hagstrom took this versatility a step further by developing a deep and resonant baritone version of the Viking.
Despite some guitarists considering baritone instruments to be limited in their application, the Hagstrom Viking Baritone challenges this notion. The guitar features two brand-new pickups specially designed for its lush acoustics, adding depth and nuance to create a wide range of sonic colours.
Hagstrom's latest Custom 58'C is positioned in the bridge, which is a semi-open-coiled humbucker that has been specifically tailored to enhance the Viking's natural ringing clarity, even in its lowest sub-registers. In the neck position is Hagstrom's P-Urified pickup, a specially crafted full-humbucking-sized P90 pickup that imparts warmth and openness while maintaining tight and controlled lower frequencies.
The result is a tonal range that covers everything from clean and classic 1960s sounds to "Spaghetti Western" twang, to the overdriven crunch of the 1970s and 1980s, and culminating in the "Über-Driven" tones demanded by today's players. All of these sounds are based on the Viking Baritone's unique and deep acoustic voice.
