Originally released in 1963 alongside the awesome Firebird guitar, the Gibson Thunderbird was the company's first ever neck-through-body bass design.
This innovative design gave the world an incredible-sounding bass, with high levels of playability, and plenty of natural sustain.

Highly Playable
Part of the charm presented by the Gibson Thunderbird is the sleek neck, topped with a 12" radius Rosewood fretboard, and a rounded profile shape. This results in an incredibly comfortable playing experience, whatever your playstyle.
High Output Pickups
The Gibson Thunderbird also comes equipped with a set of T-Bird pickups, fully complimenting the naturally rich tones generated by its construction.
These high-output humbuckers are loaded with ceramic magnets, producing that iconic Thunderbird low end, as heard on countless rock records over the decades.
In addition to this, each pickup has independent Volume controls and share a Master Tone pot, allowing you to shape your sound as you see fit.
