Eric Clapton Stratocaster Guitar; an amazing Eric Clapton signature guitar from Fender, offering pure Clapton Stratocaster style and sound.

A Fitting Tribute to A Legend

Back in 1970, Eric Clapton famously switched from predominantly playing Gibson guitars to mainly playing Fender Stratocaster, largely due to his influences from Jimi Hendrix and other peers.

One of the most acclaimed and enduring artist signature models from Fender, this guitar has been built to the specifications of Slowhand himself, Eric Clapton and is packed with special features for incredible tone and playability.

Eric Clapton Blackie Replica

As signified on the headstock, this version of the Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster is a replica of Eric Clapton’s favourite Fender Stratocaster; Blackie.

Clapton first performed on Blackie on 13th January 1973 at the Rainbow Concert and he would continue to favour this instrument for years to come.

Between 1974 and 1985 Clapton used Blackie almost exclusively both on stage and in the studio, recording hits such as “Cocaine”, “Wonderful Tonight”, “Lay Down Sally” and a huge number of live performances of Layla that have been featured on many live albums and videos.

Clapton Spec Construction

Select Alder has been used to craft that classic Strat style of the Eric Clapton Signature guitar with the body featuring a urethane finish.

A urethane finish has been chosen as it is particularly strong and durable while maintaining the vividness of the colour with great sheen and clarity over an extremely long time.

With solid bolt-on construction, a Maple neck is joined to the guitar. A “soft V” neck profile has been used on the Eric Clapton Stratocaster to deliver an extremely comfortable feel for your fretting hand.

Taking the sharpness of a ‘50s era “V” profile and softening into a more rounded shape, the neck on this guitar is perfect for players with larger hands and thumbs that extend over the fingerboard edge.

The Maple fretboard features a modern 9.5” radius which offers a slightly flattened playing area compared to a vintage-style radius, while still proving enough arc to offer a natural and comfortable feel for your fretting hand and making note bending easier.

A special drag-free satin finish to the fingerboard makes it extremely playable, allowing performance of lightning fast licks.

Other great features are the 22 vintage-style frets, a synthetic bone nut and found on the headstock is Eric Clapton’s signature; a real seal of approval.

Electronics with Tone Control

Exclusive to Fender, the Eric Clapton Stratocaster uses Vintage Noiseless pickups. These incredible pickups give you the classic style of a single coil pickup, full of vintage tone but with none of the usual drawbacks such as hum, buzz and other unwanted noise.

Giving you further tonal options with your sound, this fully featured Eric Clapton guitar sports TBX (Treble Bass Expander) tone circuitry. Its dedicated control knob has a detent at the centre position (5) and works as a normal tone control from 0 to 5.

Turning the knob clockwise from the detent adds brightness and presence while turning it anti-clockwise from the detent rolls off the high frequencies.

A second tone control knob works as an active mid-boost. Turn it clockwise and you’ll boost the mid and bass frequencies while attenuating the treble frequencies.

A 5-position blade allows you to select between different configurations of the three single coil pickups:

  • Position 1 – Bridge Pickup
  • Position 2 – Bridge and Middle Pickup
  • Position 3 – Middle Pickup
  • Position 4 – Middle and Neck Pickup
  • Position 5 – Neck Pickup

Hardware Adjustments at Clapton’s Request

As per Clapton’s own specification, the Eric Clapton Stratocaster comes with a wood block installed between the tremolo block and cavity wall to prevent the tremolo from moving. The wood block is easily removed too, so you can have this wonderful Fender Stratocaster however you like it.

The bridge itself is a 6-saddle American Vintage synchronised tremolo bridge while the neck plate is a 4-bolt and features Micro-Tilt Adjustment so you can easily and precisely adjust the action to your liking.

Everything You Need for Eric Clapton Style

Built to his own specifications, the Eric Clapton Stratocaster is the answer when you want to know how to get Eric Clapton’s tone.

Coming to you in a vintage tweed case with a strap and cable – this is how to sound like Eric Clapton and with all that same vintage Stratocaster style.
