Looks, Feels, And Sounds Like A Genuine Early 60s Telecaster

Fender's illustrious Custom Shop have been going strong for more than three decades, delivering guitars and basses that range from authentic recreations of vintage favourites through to fully-customised models where the only limit is your imagination.

In this case we have a Telecaster designed to the same specifications of those much-coveted early 1960s models, which has been "prematurely aged" for authenticity.

Building The Custom Shop Telecaster

For the body on this guitar, Fender have opted to use a piece of the finest-grade Alder, carved in that traditional single-cutaway design.

Alder has been used due to its reputation for yielding a balanced tone, with equal amounts of lows, mids, and highs.

Bolted on to the body is a solid Maple neck, carved with a '60s oval "C" profile that's both comfortable and chunky to impart a comfortable experience for your left hand.

Sitting atop the neck is a 21-fret Rosewood fingerboard, with medium jumbo frets that really let you dig in when you're playing.

Relic "Ageing" Finish

With their Custom Shop "Time Machine" series, Fender offer a range of different ageing finishes, ranging from New Old Stock through to Heavy Relic, depending on how worn-in you want it to be.

For this guitar we have a Journeyman Relic finish, which gives the impression of a guitar that's been owned for decades but well-taken care of.

The end-result is the "broken-in" vibe that would normally take many years to achieve with a new guitar, combined with the rock-solid stability of a new Fender Custom Shop model.

Hand-Wound Pickups

For that traditional Tele "Twang", Fender have fitted this guitar with a pair of Custom Shop Hand-Wound '63 Tele single coil pickups.

These pickups are period-accurate, and packed full of authentic Fender tone thanks to their vintage-style wiring and 3-way pickup switch.

Keeping It Safe

For those times when it's not in use, this Custom Shop Telecaster comes complete with a deluxe hardshell case to help keep it safe.

As if that wasn'e enough, the case also comes complete with some extra goodies, such as a leather Fender Custom Shop strap, picks, "Ash Tray" bridge cover, certificate of authenticity, and much more.
