Fender American Professional Jaguar, seen here in a beautifully eye-catching Candy Apple Red with a classic Rosewood fretboard, a new take on an iconic guitar.
American Professional Jaguar
With notable players including such iconic artists as John Frusciante, Johnny Marr and Kurt Cobain, since its release in 1962, the Fender Jaguar has been behind some incredible records.
At the time of its initial launch, the Fender Jaguar was one of the most high-tech guitars on the market but as both time and technology has marched so resolutely forward, Fender believed it was time that this incredible guitar saw a significant update.
The American Professional Jaguar marks the first time Fender have produced a modern spec Jaguar made in California, USA.
Taking everything that guitarists loved about the Jaguar while updating it with modern features and guitar building knowhow, the American Professional Jaguar is yet again an innovative guitar that pushes boundaries while offering modern guitarists fantastic sound and playability.
The Jaguar Strikes Back
Fender have used Alder to craft that famous and distinctive offset body shape of the Jaguar which features cutaways making it easy to reach the higher frets; great for solos and other adventurous lead guitar licks.
Bolt-on construction, with a classic 4-bolt neckplate, sees the joining of a Maple neck to the guitar. The neck has a modern “Deep C” shape to it, giving you something really substantial to hold onto while playing.
Atop the neck you will find a classic Rosewood fretboard with a 9.5” radius. 22 narrow tall frets allow for comfortable playing and are great for bends and ensure precise intonation across the whole neck so even the most complicated chords ring true.
Updated and Streamlined Electronics
Giving this new Jaguar its incredible and versatile sound, two brand-new V-Mod Jaguar pickups have been installed. Developed by Michael Frank, these newly designed single-coil pickups really expand on the Jaguar’s sonic palette, producing a vintage influenced and hot tone, packing a lot of midrange punch and great definition.
Earlier versions of the Fender Jaguar could be quite intimidating, with their large number of dials and control knobs, it was quite a complicated beast to tame.
When designing the American Professional Jaguar, however, Fender have gone for a much more streamlined approach, allowing guitarists to find their perfect sound quickly and easily.
Single volume and tone knobs allow you to adjust your overall sound while a 4-way selector switch allows you to choose between each pickup individually, both together in series or both together in parallel.
There’s also a Phase Reverse Switch giving you an extra flavour to play around with and further tailor your own customised tone.
What’s more; Fender have equipped the American Professional Jaguar with a treble bleed circuit which allows you to roll off the volume while retaining all the high-end clarity of your tone no matter what level you play at.
High Quality Vintage Style Hardware
On the body of the American Professional Jaguar, you’ll find a newly redesigned 9.5” radius Jaguar bridge with a vintage style tremolo.
A classic 3-ply mint pickguard protects the guitar’s finish while, unlike earlier versions, this Jaguar features a screw-in tremolo arm making it much more securely placed.
Six brass Mustang style saddles are used, which increase resonance and sustain and they feature deep grooves to ensure that your stings stay nice and stable.
At the headstock, there are Fender standard cast sealed machine heads that allow for quick, precise and stable tuning while at the top of the neck you’ll find a bone nut helping to deliver a nicely organic and bright tone while increasing resonance.
Cutting Edge Classic Reborn
To protect your new American Professional Jaguar, it will be sent out to you in a Fender Elite hard case which is moulded from ABS and features a plush fitted interior and lockable latches.
Taking everything that guitarists love about the Jaguar while updating it to ensure it is still pushing boundaries, the American Professional Jaguar is a versatile guitar that is great for the modern guitarist who requires a lot of control over their tone.
