The Evans G12 Clear 16" Drum Head is a great option if you want lots of sustain in your tom sound. It features a thick 12mil single ply that allows the feel of a single ply head with the durability of a 2 ply. This thicker film also offers a deeper fundamental tone and enhanced projection compared to the traditional 10 mil ply head.
Enhanced Projection, Deeper Tone
The G12 series of drum heads sits at the brighter end of the Evans tom batter head range. Its built to provide a good amount of sustain while still offering some attack and articulation. The thicker head construction means that the G12 range accentuates a deeper fundamental tone from the tom shell which results in a heavy sounding sustain. If you want toms that sound thick and weighty with a powerful thud, these are the heads for you.
Not only does the 20% thicker film used in the G12 clear tom heads result in a deeper tone, it also means these heads are much more durable than their counterparts. The use of a thick single ply 12 mil film means that you have the feel of a single ply head, but with the strength of a twin ply.
The G12 clear range is available in a variety of sizes from 6" - 20".
Evans Level 360 Technology
As with all Evans drum heads, the G12 range features unique Level 360 Technology. This technology consists of a steeper collar to the rim of the drum head which ensures balanced contact with the shell bearing edge. This means the head makes proper contact with the shell ensuring a consistent fit so that the head won't damage easily or lose tension. The rim of the drum head also features roll-over hoop designed to improve the strength and stability of the head without diminishing performance. This technology ensures a more consistent head to shell contact that provides a wider range of tuning, better responsiveness and resonance, and a stronger, longer lasting head. Sounds like a win win!
