The Evans EMAD 16" Clear Top Hoop Batter Drum Head offers the same attributes as the bass drum version but features a hoop designed to fit toms. This head offers a great balance of punch, power and low end. It features the Externally Mounted Adjustable Damping system allowing players to easily adjust attack and focus to their preference without having to remove the drumhead.
Tom Version of the EMAD Bass Head
The Evans 16" EMAD Clear Top Hoop head features the same sound characteristics as the EMAD bass head, it just has a hoop that's made to fit a tom shell rather than a bass drum. The head is made of a single ply 10 mil film that provides a great deal of punchy attack and power, with limited sustain but still a good amount of low end tone. The thick 10 mil ply means this head is also extremely durable.
Following on from the success and popularity of the bass drum range of EMAD heads, Evans recognise that many drummers want a similar sound option for their lower end toms. They've therefore created this EMAD tom head to allow drummers to gain substantial punch and low-end power in their toms as well as their bass drum. The clear finish of the drum head offers a slightly brighter sound than that of a coated head.
Externally Mounted Damping System
The revolutionary EMAD system from Evans has proved to be extremely popular with drummers of all styles. The Externally Mounted Damping System features two interchangeable damping rings that can be used to tailor the bass head sound to maximise attack and low-end. All this without having to remove the drum head or reach inside the drum.
Evans Level 360 Technology
As with all Evans drum heads, this EMAD Drum Head features unique Level 360 Technology. This technology consists of a steeper collar to the rim of the drum head which ensures balanced contact with the shell bearing edge. This means the head makes proper contact with the shell ensuring a consistent fit so that the head won't damage easily or lose tension. The rim of the drum head also features roll-over hoop designed to improve the strength and stability of the head without diminishing performance. This technology ensures a more consistent head to shell contact that provides a wider range of tuning, better responsiveness and resonance, and a stronger, longer lasting head. Sounds like a win win!
