Now fitted with new Epiphone ProBucker pickups and a refined hardware package, the Emperor II Pro is an iconic archtop guitar that pays homage to the 'President of Bebop Guitar' - Joe Pass. Considered by many as one of the most influential jazz guitarists of all time, this semi-hollowbody delivers all of the classic horn-like tones he was renowned for playing, with the added versatility of coil-tapped pickups for endless tone combinations. A new Graphtech NuBone XL nut and sophisticated aesthetic appointments give the Emperor II Pro a really classy vibe, finished in Joe's favourite 'Vintage Sunburst'.
A true archtop guitar created to a standard that befits one of the jazz greats and including some of the modern features like ProBuckers and Coil Tapping.
A select spruce top and 'arched' body shape, with a single cutaway, define the bright, airy tone of the Emperor II Pro. A laminated flame maple body offers plenty of structural support and tone that develops gracefully over time as the guitar settles into its environment. It also features a hand-set 3-piece laminated hard Maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard that has beautiful pearloid block inlays, 20 medium jumbo frets, and is topped off with the Epiphone-vintage style "tree of life" design seen on the best Epi archtops since the late 1930s
During his long career, Joe Pass's advanced harmonic knowledge and seemingly endless well of melodic ideas made him the premier accompanist for the top singers and soloists in the world of jazz including Les McCaan, Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Oscar Peterson, Herb Ellis, Ray Brown, and Milt Jackson. The new Joe Pass Emperor II PRO is a fitting tribute to Joe, who was a great inspiration and friend to Epiphone and guitarists throughout the world.
Please Note: Although this guitar is listed as featuring Grover tuning machines, it may instead ship with Wilkinson tuners fitted. This is because Epiphone are currently in the process of altering their current acoustic and electric guitar model specs, with this being one of the key changes.
