Tone Shaping Prowess

In addition to the familiar controls mentioned above, the Deluxe Sovtek Big Muff comes with plenty more tone-shaping capabilities.

Mids EQ

First of all, there's the Mids EQ pot, which has a dedicated "On/Off" footswitch. This parametric EQ control gives you up to 10dB boost or cut to the Mid frequency range, and can be further shaped with the high/low Q switch that sets the resonance/bandwidth of the EQ.

Gate

Secondly there's the Gate control, for removing unwanted noise. This is the answer to the biggest problem faced when using a single-coil pickup on a fuzz-driven circuit.

Blend

Thirdly, we have the afore-mentioned Blend control. This circuit allows you to mix the dry and distorted signals, going from sparkling clean to all-out filth at each extreme. This is also ideal for bass players, as it lets your untouched bass signal be heard underneath the fuzz effect, ensuring no low-end is lost.

Wicker

In fourth place we have the Wicker switch, a useful addition to any fuzz pedal. In the up position this switch opens up your high frequency bandwidtch to give you a more pronounced attack, whereas in the down position you get a more traditional Green Russian sound.

Expression

And last, but by no means least, there's an Expression Pedal Input socket. With an expression pedal connected, you can sweep through your Mids EQ frequency, giving you a Wah effects.

True Bypass

A common requirement for many pedalboards these days is pedals with True Bypass circuitry. True Bypass (as opposed to Buffered) helps to maintain signal path integrity when the pedal isn't in use, meaning your signal remains as pure and "un-coloured" as you could want.

Internal Switches

For those of you with a little more technical know-how, the Deluxe Sovtek Big Muff also comes complete with internal switches, for you to further shape your sound.

This includes a switch to engage a Buffer on the input circuit, and some Mids EQ Trim pots for adjusting High Q Bandwidth, High Q Output volume, and overall Mids EQ output volume.
