EHX Battalion Bass Preamp, Distortion and DI Pedal
Fresh from the Electro Harmonix factory in New York, I bring you the Battalion: a Preamp, DI and Distortion pedal built especially for those low-end lovers (bassists). This flexible pedal deliverys a powerful tone-shaping capability in a ruggedly constructed package. Featuring an array of awesome functions, including an incredible four-band EQ, fully-featured MOSFET distortion section (w/ 3 signal path options), an in-built compressor, noise gate and comprehensive I/O... and for all of that it comes at a price that's accessible to all!
A must-have for todays modern bass player
Let's start by discussing this pedal's 4-band EQ. The controls you have here are Bass (below 200Hz), Lo Mid (boost/cut at 280Hz), Hi Mid (Boost/cut at 750Hz) and Treble (boost/cut above 2kHz). The amount of control you get over each respective frequency range allows you to sculpt your perfect bass tone with ease, helping you to really stand out in the mix and avoid any muddiness.
MOSFET Distortion Circuit
In addition to that incredible EQ we have the Distortion section, complete with Level, Blend, Drive and Tone controls, which is activated via dedicated footswitch. The three signal flow modes help you determine just where the distortion is applied within the signal chain, each giving you a unique array of tonal variations (these are Pre EQ, Post EQ and Dry EQ).
In-Built Compressor & Noise Gate
The Battalion's compressor is activated via push button, and comes complete with a level control and blue LED. Make use of the Gate knob to set the threshold for the noise gate, and engage the -10dB Pad Button to accommodate both active and passive pickup types.
Input / Output Jacks
As well as the standard input and output Jacks, this pedal also comes with a 1/4" output jack for headphones and a balanced XLR output to use as a DI (complete with it's own dedicated level, bypass and ground lift controls). You need never be unheard again during a live performance with this pedal, that much is certain!
