Utilising a technique devised by DW vice president John Good and the DW Custom Shop team, these DW Drums are at the cutting edge of drum construction.

DW’s proprietary HVX process uses a combination of the latest grain orientation technology and hand selected North American hard rock maple to deliver shells that offer rich resonance, piercing projection and low, punchy tone.

The grain orientation technique involves a precise pattern of long and short grain plies that are put into the mould with alternating grain direction to produce a strong shell build.

Once in the mould the shell is baked under pressure before being immediately taken out of the oven and placed in a pressurized cooler to allow the glue to crystallize quickly.

The end result is a drum shell that hardens to a perfect cylinder to offer improved tuning and optimum tonal resonance.

Each of the drums in this shell pack come fitted with true-pitch tuning rods to help ensure you achieve your ideal drum sound.

Featuring a patented design, the true-pitch tension rods have a 5mm thread rather than the standard 12/24 thread.

This equates to one thread positioned every 0.8mm on the true-pitch tension rods compared to one thread every 1.05mm on a standard tension rod, which is an increase of 20%.

STM System

By ensuring the mount and the shell are kept separate the tom is allowed to vibrate freely to achieve its maximum resonance.

Classic Chrome

The toms feature chrome triple flanged hoops to offer a versatile sound with 1.6mm weighted hoops on the 10” tom and 2.3mm hoops on the 12” and 16” toms.
