The bass drum features low mass die-cast claw hooks to ensure rattle free hold of the hoops and the floor tom comes complete with DW standard chrome plated steel 21” legs.

Proprietary Technology

All kits in the DW Performance range are constructed using DW’s proprietary HVX process to achieve strong, perfectly round shells that deliver versatile tone and optimum resonance.

Created by the team at the DW Custom Shell Shop with vice president John Wood, the HVX method utilises a precise pattern of long and short grain plies combined with grain orientation technology.

This grain orientation process creates super strong shells with superb shape integrity by alternating the direction of the ply grain with each ply that is put into the mould.

The shell mould is then put into an oven and baked under pressure. Then it is immediately moved from the oven to a pressurized cooler to ensure the glue crystalizes quickly.

The result is a hardened shell that is perfectly cylindrical to provide consistent tuning and vibrant resonance, resulting in full, rich tone.

Warm Maple Tone

This DW Drums Performance Series is made entirely from 8 plies of hand selected North American hard rock maple to produce rich, versatile tone.

Characterised by it’s even amounts of highs and mid frequencies combined with full warm lows; maple drums deliver all purpose tone ideal for a wide range of playing styles.

Capable of producing the cut needed to pierce through the mix on stage while also providing the big, full depth of warm tone needed to make an impact, this DW Performance shell pack is a great option for live performance.

Further aiding the modern, attacking tone of the maple shells, each drum is finished with DW 45 degree back cut bearing edges to provide low punch, ample resonance and piercing projection.

Remo Drumheads

This DW Performance 4-piece shell pack comes complete with DW Remo USA drumheads as standard to provide superior sound and robust durability.

The specifically designed DW Remo Coated/Clear heads have a mainly clear design but with a coated tone ring to ensure just the right amount of muffling while still providing ample resonance.

Each of the heads features a crimped flesh hoop to ensure unrestricted vibration and optimum durability.
 
The 3 toms are fitted with Coated/Clear Batter heads and Clear Resonant Heads to provide a consistent response and easy tuning across the kit.

The 22” bass drum features a Coated/Clear Batter head which has a built-in inlay ring and the resonant side is an Ebony Resonant Logo Vented Head.

Precise Tension

The drum heads and hoops are held in place on this DW Performance Chrome Shadow kit by DW’s patented true-pitch tension rods to ensure precise and long-lasting tuning.

While most tension rods have one thread every 1.05mm, the DW true-pitch tension rods have a thread every 0.8mm which is a 20% thread increase.

The STM attaches to the rack toms via 4 lug points to avoid direct contact between the shell and the mount which would negatively affect the shells ability to vibrate freely.

This isolation of the shell enables the rack tom to resonant properly to achieve its optimum sustain to ensure you gain the full depth of tone from your toms.

Furthermore, the mount doesn’t have any washers or grommets that could interfere with the lug tension rod receivers and cause tuning and chocking problems.
