Keep It Chrome

Each of the kits in the DW Performance series are fitted exclusively with chrome hardware to provide a consistent look across the range.

The DW Chrome Shadow Performance kit features DW Turret Lugs which are a scaled down version of the famous DW lug to provide an instantly recognisable look.

All the toms are fitted with 2.3mm graduated counter triple flanged hoops to deliver versatile sound, even hold and consistent tuning.

The 14” floor tom has DW standard chrome plated steel 21” legs and the bass drum is fitted with low mass die-cast claw hooks to deliver strong, rattle free hold.

HVX Shells

As with all the kits in the DW Performance range, this 4-piece shell pack utilises DW’s proprietary HVX shell technology to provide the ultimate in versatile tone and optimum resonance.

Devised by DW executive vice president John Wood and the DW Custom Shell Shop in California, the HVX process combines grain orientation technology with hand selected North American hard rock maple to deliver a low, punchy fundamental pitch, ample resonance and great projection.

The grain orientation process involves alternating the grain direction of each ply as it’s placed into the mould to achieve a shell with optimum strength and shape integrity.

After the shell has been baked under pressure it is immediately moved to a pressurized cooler to make sure the glue instantly crystallizes to harden the shell into a perfect cylinder.

All of the shells in this 4-piece drum kit are made from 8 plies of maple using the HVX method to provide rich resonance, even highs and mids and a lusciously warm low-end tone.

Back-Cut Bearing Edges

Each of the shells of this DW kit are finished with 45 degree back-cut bearing edges to deliver modern, attacking projection.

STM System

The 10” and 12” rack toms of this DW Performance Chrome Shadow kit are fitted with the patented Suspension Tom Mount (STM) to deliver strong support and precise positioning without restricting the natural resonance of the drums.

The STM system attaches to the rack toms via 4 lug points to prevent direct contact between the shell and the mount which allows the tom to vibrate freely.

In addition, the STM is absent of washers and grommets that could inhibit the lug rod receivers which would cause difficulties with tuning and result in the tom being choked.

So, rather that detrimentally affecting the tom resonance, the STM delivers robust support for reliable tom placement whilst promoting the natural sustain of the drum.

Tune Aiding Tension Rods

All drums in the DW Performance range come fitted with true-pitch tension rods to provide stronger hold and more precise tuning.

While most standard tension rods have 1 thread every 1.05mm the true-pitch tuning rods have 1 thread every 0.8mm which is 20% more than normal.

What this means for you is a set of tension rods that offer more exact tuning across the drum kit to ensure you achieve the exact sound you require.

DW Remo Heads

This DW Performance shell pack comes fitted with DW Remo USA drumheads as standard.

The 20” bass drum has a coated / clear batter head with inlay ring and an Ebony resonant logo vented head, while the toms feature coated / clear batter heads and clear resonant heads.

The DW Remo coated/clear heads feature a predominately clear design that incorporates a coated tone ring to deliver just the right amount of muffling with plenty of resonance.

Each of the heads has crimped flesh hoops to provide maximum vibration and durability.
