The grain orientation technique works by alternating the direction of the ply grain with each ply that is placed into the mould in order to ensure shell strength and shape integrity.

The shell is then baked in the mould under pressure before immediately being moved to a pressurized cooler to ensure the glue crystallizes instantly to deliver a hardened, perfectly cylindrical shell.

Maple Tone

All of the shells in this DW 3-piece kit are made from hand selected North American hard rock maple to produce low punchy tone, ample resonance and piercing projection.

Each shell is constructed from 8 plies of maple to deliver versatile, all-purpose tone filled with even amounts of highs and mids combined with lusciously warm lows.

Strong Tom Support

The 12” rack tom of this DW Performance kit is fitted with DW’s patented Suspension Tom Mount (STM) to provide strong support and precise positioning of the tom without negatively impacting the natural resonance of the drum.

This innovative STM system attaches to the rack tom via 4 lug points to prevent direct contact between the wooden shell and the metal mount, which would detrimentally affect the shells ability to vibrate.

By isolating the mount from the shell, the rack tom is allowed to resonate freely to achieve its optimum sustain.

Furthermore, the suspension tom mount doesn’t feature any washers or grommets that could inhibit the tension rod receivers on the lugs and cause tuning difficulties or tone chocking problems.

By maintaining separation from the shell and removing problematic parts the STM delivers reliable support for your tom whilst promoting the natural, full tone of the drums.

True-Pitch Rods

The DW Performance drums come fitted with DW true-pitch tension rods as standard to provide more precise and longer lasting tuning.

Typically, standard tension rods have 1 thread every 1.05mm, but the true-pitch tuning rods increase this by 20% with 1 thread every 0.8mm.

This increase in thread works to provide more exact tuning and a stronger hold of your settings to maintain consistent, longer lasting tuning too.

This means you can more easily achieve the exact sound you require and can trust it to remain in place from your first tap to your last hit.

Remo Drumheads
