This DW Performance shell pack features DW's proprietary HVX shell technology to deliver the ultimate in tone and resonance.

The HVX system is a brand-new technology devised by DW executive vice president John Wood and the DW Custom Shell Shop in California.

The process incorporates grain orientation technology which involves alternating the grain direction of each ply as it is placed into the shell mould in order to achieve a shell with optimum strength and strong shape integrity.

Once the shell has been baked under pressure it is immediately put into a pressurized cooler to ensure the glue instantly crystallizes to harden the shell to a perfect cylinder.

Combining grain orientation technology with hand selected North American hard rock maple, the DW HVX shells produce a low, punchy fundamental pitch, ample resonance and great projection.

Delivering the piercing cut needed to slice through the mix and the full depth of tone to ensure you make an impact on stage, this DW kit is perfectly suited to live applications.

Each of the shells in this 3-piece drum kit are made from 8 plies of maple using the HVX method to deliver rich resonant tone, even representation across the frequencies and a lusciously warm low-end response.

45 Degree Bearing Edges

Each of the shells are finished with DW 45 degree back-cut bearing edges to deliver rich resonance, modern tone and attacking projection.

Tom Support and Sustain

The 12” rack tom of this DW Performance Gold Sparkle kit is fitted with the patented Suspension Tom Mount (STM) to deliver strong support and precise positioning without restricting the natural resonance of the drum.

The STM system attaches to the rack tom via 4 lug points to avoid direct contact with the drum shell which allows the tom to vibrate freely.

In addition, the STM is free of washers and grommets which could inhibit the rod receivers of the lugs causing difficulties with tuning and a choked tone.

The result is a tom mount that delivers robust support for reliable tom placements whilst helping to promote the natural sustain of the drum.

True-Pitch Tuning Rods

Another patented feature, the DW Performance range comes fitted with true-pitch tension rods which feature improved thread to provide stronger hold and more precise tuning.

Standard tension rods typically have 1 thread every 1.05mm whereas the true-pitch tuning rods have 1 thread every 0.8mm which works out be 20% more than the standard.

What this means for you is a set of tension rods that offer more exact tuning across the whole kit to help you to achieve the exact sound you need.

All Chrome

The 18” bass drum has a coated / clear batter head with inlay ring and an Ebony resonant logo vented head, while both toms feature coated / clear batter heads and clear resonant heads.

The DW Remo coated/clear heads feature a predominately clear design that incorporates a coated tone ring to deliver just the right amount of muffling with plenty of resonance.

Each of the heads has crimped flesh hoops to provide maximum vibration and durability.
