This Drum Workshop Performance snare is constructed using DW’s proprietary HVX shell process to deliver a strong shell with ample resonance.

Devised by vice president John Wood and the DW Custom Shell Shop in California, the HVX process combines the latest grain orientation technology with hand select maple.

The grain orientation method involves alternating the grain direction of each ply as it is placed into the mould to ensure a strong shell with superior shape integrity.
The shell mould is then baked under pressure before being moved immediately from the oven to a pressurized cooler to allow the glue to crystallize immediately.

The end result is a snare shell that hardens to a perfect cylinder to ensure a superb tuning range and optimum sustain.

DW Mag Throw

This DW Performance Gold Sparkle snare is fitted with the DW Mag Snare Throw Off System to provide smooth and precise adjustment of the snare wires.

As a workhorse drop throw, the Mag throw off has a purposefully simple design and features a horizontal tension adjustment to allow fast, intricate, no-nonsense snare setting.

The throw takes its name from the small magnet that is integrated into the body of the strainer to hold the handle firmly in the upright position

Working to keep the strainer firmly in place as you play, this nifty little magnet ensures your snare setting stays in place no matter how hard you hit.

Then with a slight tug the mag handle releases, throwing the wires completely off the resonant head to avoid snare buzz and deliver a quick, clean disengagement.

True-Pitch Tension Rods

The DW 14” x 8” Performance snare is fitted with true-pitch tension rods as standard to accommodate more intricate and long-lasting tuning.

Featuring a patented design, the true-pitch tension rods have a 5mm thread instead of the standard 12/24 thread used on most tension rods.

As a result, the true-pitch tuning rods have 1 thread positioned every 0.8mm as opposed to the standard one thread every 1.05mm.

This 20% increase in thread works to provide more exact tuning to ensure you’re able to achieve precisely the sound you want.

Durable Drumheads
