Proprietary Process

DW have utilised a proprietary HVX process in the construction of this DW Performance snare to ensure versatile sound and natural resonance.

This proprietary process has been devised by the team at the California DW Custom Shell Shop and executive vice president John Wood and combines grain orientation technology with a specific pattern of plies.

This grain orientation process involves alternating the direction of the grain of each ply as it’s put into the mould to achieve a shell with super strength and shape integrity.

The mould is then baked under pressure before being immediately moved from the oven to a pressurized cooler to allow the glue to instantly crystallizes forming a harden, perfectly cylindrical snare shell.

Using the innovative HVX process, the shell of this DW Performance snare is constructed from 10 plies of maple to deliver all-purpose sound.

The throw off takes it name from the clever magnet that is integrated into the body of the throw and works to keep the handle securely in the upright position to ensure it won’t release without a slight tug.
